Control Resonant received a brand new Story Trailer in the recent June State of Play, offering a new look at the paranatural journey Dylan Baker will go through to save a warped Manhattan from twisted horrors. The trailer also confirmed a September 24 release date and ended with a pre-order announcement.

However, there has been some confusion around the 48-hour Early Access included with the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, as it only appeared in the PlayStation trailer. This led players to believe that the Early Access was exclusive to PlayStation, and they were right.

Unfortunately, if you’ve purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of Control Resonant on any platform other than PlayStation, you won’t be receiving the 48-hour Early Access, as Thomas Puha, Remedy’s Communications Director, has confirmed that the Early Access bonus is exclusive to PlayStation. Only PlayStation players who have pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition will be able to play the game 2 days early, on September 22nd.

This came as a shock to Remedy fans since Control Resonant is not a PlayStation exclusive and will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC. So, making the 48-hour Early Access a PlayStation-only bonus was quite unexpected. Thomas Puha’s reply confirms that players on Xbox and PC will not be able to play the game early on their platforms, unless plans change in the future.

Early Access has been a heavily debated topic in the gaming space for quite some time, but making it a platform-exclusive bonus for a more expensive version of Control Resonant didn’t sit well with fans, since players on Xbox and PC will be paying the same price for fewer total bonuses. However, all players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive the additional digital content included with it, regardless of platforms.

What Else is Included in Control Resonant’s Digital Deluxe Edition?

With the 48-hour Early Access exclusive to PlayStation, here’s everything included with the Digital Deluxe Edition of Control Resonant on all platforms:

  • Full Base Game
  • Digital Artbook
  • Untapped Artifact (Wallet)
  • Original Soundtrack
  • Starter Resource Bundle
  • AWE Mission Outfit

Additionally, players pre-ordering any edition of Control Resonant will receive the Hiss Corruption Outfit and the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact as pre-order bonuses. Despite the absence of Early Access on Xbox and PC, all players will be able to enjoy a variety of in-game goodies come September 24.

It’s unclear if Remedy will reverse this decision, since a marketing deal seems to be in place between the developer and PlayStation.

Final Thoughts

September is already a packed month, with Marvel’s Wolverine launching 10 days earlier and Silent Hill: Townfall launching on the same day as Control: Resonant. So, it’s going to be a tough battle, with players having to be selective with their wallets. But this 48-hour Early Access might tip the odds against Remedy’s ambitious sequel. Only time will tell.

Will Control Resonant have Early Access on Xbox and PC?

No, the game will not have Early Access on Xbox and PC. Only players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition on PlayStation will receive the 48-hour Early Access.

When is Control Resonant launching?

Is Control Resonant a sequel to Control?

Yes, the game is a sequel to Control and Jesse Faden from the first game appears in the new Story Trailer, aiding Dylan on his terrifying journey through the warped Manhattan.

Is Jesse Faden playable in Control Resonant?

No, Jesse Faden is not playable in the upcoming game. She appears as a side character helping her brother, Dylan.
